WELCOME TO ptAIA

I give regular lectures on creating objects of cultural or historical significance at the ptAIA Studio and Gallery in Frazier Park, California and at Villa Saraceno in Finale, Vicenza, Italy. To those who are interested in designing or creating objects – or having one built for them –  I urge you to call and schedule a session in Frazier Park or in Vicenza, Italy.

You can also support our artists-in-residence by purchasing their work from our store.

Alfa Romeo TZ1

Sometimes the rarest TZ1 is impossible to find. So we re-created the essential Alfa Romeo TZ1 to transport you and your Leica around in style.

GTA Motorworks is a group within ptAIA that a remanufactures vintage sports cars. Our small, dedicated group of designers and fabricators focus their energy on remastering historic sports cars – such as Ferrari, Maserati, and Alfa Romeo – race winners from the early 1950s to the late 1960s.
We handcraft body components of the era – which are impossible to buy, and even if you could would be extremely expensive. We also use original frames whenever possible. This allows you to keep the manufacturer’s original vehicle identification number, which further distinguishes your vehicle.
We understand the art of coach building. My family history includes automotive designers such as the long-forgotten Enrique Tommassini, and of course, coach builders such Petero Tomadildo. Much as it was done ages ago by my ancestors, we design and fabricate totally in-house (although not in Italy, but in Frazier Park).
While some processes must remain true to the historical intent (such as hand-crafted aluminum bodies), others have changed. For example, the use of 3D modeling allows for rapid prototyping and buck creation in a fraction of the time it used to take. Lasers and water-jet cutting are important as never before. With these tools anything can be recreated, such as our beloved Alfa Romeo Tipo 33, which is now in the beginning stages of fabrication.

The original TZ is sometimes referenced as TZ1 to differ from the later TZ2. Our TZ1 is a multi-purpose sport-racer, featuring a tubular space frame chassis, light all-aluminum bodywork, disc brakes, and a GTA exclusive – our own custom, high-performance independent suspension system and rear transaxle.

We make our TZ1s in Frazier Park, California and ship worldwide. We have achieved a 90% accurate frame and body, but specialize in making alterations to accommodate unique drivetrains, engines, lifestyle choices, etc. These cars are hand-crafted to the owners’ specifications and require a diligent investment of time and money. Average time to build is six months and average investment is $75,000 U.S. I urge anyone interested to call me for details.
